About me

I am a musician, songwriter, artist and teacher living in Southern California. Violin and viola are my main instruments; I started studying violin when I was 9. I love classical music, folk, rock and I can do a little jazz improv. Fiddle music is fun, too. Actually I love all music: Indian, African, Latin, Middle Eastern…but I have only studied a tip of that iceberg…I can play many other instruments other than violin and viola, but not so well: guitar, mandolin, bass guitar, piano, drums. When I attended CSUN (and got a credential in music teaching), I was really pleased to add rudimentary playing skills in flute, clarinet, trumpet and trombone.

After college when I was living in New York City I developed tendinitis in my left hand. I couldn’t play violin or guitar, or at least not much, for a few years. Having lost my emerging classical-musician identity, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and fell in with a lot of songwriting folks.  I started writing songs, and have more or less kept writing them.

I studied painting at Bennington CollegeLynphoto
